The cat bowls are complete!

I was trying to make them a little more obviously flattened on the side that meets - right now if you see them individually they just look lopsided XD

At last night’s pottery session, after trimming the bottom of the large bowl I’d thrown a couple of weeks back,  half an hour of unsuccessful mug attempts and a failed cat grass dish, I gave up trying to do anything, grabbed a chunk of clay and just started playing.

How can anything sleep so stupid?

All aboard the sleepy kitty train!

Cute, but terribly unsanitary:

It had to happen eventually.  We’ve been conditioning the kittens to let us manipulate them in various ways - cutting claws, inspecting ears, smearing kitty toothpaste on their gums.  Of course most of this kind of thing isn’t strictly necessary yet (they don’t even have their adult teeth), but we’d like to familiarize them while they’re young and malleable with the various unpleasant things they’ll be expected to quietly endure as adults.

Today was bath day.

Of course it wasn’t a full bath.  Not yet.  Today they only had to stay in the water for a few minutes while I held them still and Jonathan gently poured water down their backs.  Shampoo will come later, when they’ve stopped completely freaking out about the process.  In the meantime, every weekend, they’ll be subjected to the misery and shame of looking like this:

I took the liberty of documenting their torment as they cleansed themselves and each other of the shameful water.

The resentment in those eyes makes me glad we leave the bedroom door closed at night :o
