Our latest pootery session was…educational.  I failed to take photographs of the milk pitcher which I attempted, but it would be fair to call it “unique” and possibly “special”.  There was much giggling as I attempted to shore up the cracking walls while Anaïs built a handle, all while the clock was ticking in the last moments of the studio session.  Other projects this week included a turned bowl which I glazed and neglected to take photos of, and this elegant slabware beer stein/coffee mug hybrid, which may or may not lose its handle the instant I fill it with scalding hot liquid:

Here’s a better shot of the other pieces behind the mug.

From left to right: an experimental tray which turned out so ugly that my husband has insisted that I give it away or toss it in the garbage (Anaïs has suggested breaking it up and using the pieces in something else, which I may yet end up doing), Anaïs’ butter dish, a beautiful bunny (which I suspect has some walrus and cthulhu grandparents in the gene pool) made by my favourite 5 year old, and finally, a lovely little green and pink bowl, also Anaïs’ work.

Inspired by my previous post, my friend Shai made an excellent Thing in a Jar.

I think it looks a bit like a fetal pig.

Jon says it’s more like an unidentifiable internal organ.

After photoshop crashed the other day, my computer locked up completely, and now it won’t boot at all, so it may be a while before I get to those cottage pictures.  It’s such a pain to try to do image editing on the ploptop.

I had the pleasure of hanging out with an animated and energetic young lady last weekend at the cottage.

Meet Sophie, age 5.

I’m considering stealing her.

And I got to play with other people’s kids…iz.

It’s good when your friends have kids, because you can borrow them for short intervals and not get sick of them.

See?  They’re so cute when you don’t have to wake up at 3am with them every night.

Nature is also working hard on baby-making:
